TEHRAN The 18-year-old Ali Rezaei, son of the Secretary of the Expediency Council and ex-Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Mohsen Rezaei, refuted a false report aired by the Voice of America which claimed that Ahmad Rezaei, Ali's elder brother, has taken political asylum in the United States. In a visit to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) here yesterday, Ali Rezaei speaking on behalf of his family said that the Americans have kidnapped his brother, Ahmad. My brother, 22, is very sensitive and flexible.

He was doing his major in mathematics at the Teachers Training University in Tehran, he said. Ali Rezaei further said that last year an agent from the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA, Majid Tavana, tried to persuade Ahmad to leave for the U.S. However, the plot was frustrated by my father, he added. A visa was arranged for him by the U.S. government and the State Department to visit the semi-military complex in America, he said.

Last year, my brother was on a visit to the UAE, where he was offered a job. Afterwards, Ahmad came to know that the offer was made by the terrorist Mujahedeen Khalq Organization (MKO). He decided to return to his homeland, but, was kidnapped while on his way to Iran, he elaborated. To make the plot look natural, Ahmad was taken to a few European countries and finally he landed in the U.S. in March, 1998, Ali Rezaei said, adding that since the Americans have put a special seal of the U.S. Immigration Office in Ahmad's passport, he is not allowed to leave that country.

The Persian Service of the Voice of America said on Thursday night that Ahmad Rezaei has taken political refuge in the United States and that he was talking to the VOA from Los Angeles. My brother was forced to talk with the VOA, Ali Rezaei said adding, Early Friday (yesterday), Ahmad contacted us over the telephone and while he was crying said the Americans threatened him to give an interview with the VOA on the Leader of the supreme jurisprudent as well.

Ali stressed that his brother was an ardent believer in the late Imam Khomeini, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the supreme jurisprudent.
